Assu Vedhi 5, 1596 Bk. (1539 CE) is the Guruship (Gurgadi) Diharra of Sri Guru Angad Dev Ji (5 days before Guru Nanak Dev Ji merged into His Formless Form). Sri Guru Angad Dev Ji’s humbleness was beyond description. Once he was asked by the Siddhas, “Why Guru Nanak Dev Ji, before whom the entire universe prostrates, placed His forehead on your feet?” Guru Angad Dev Ji’s eyes welled up with tears and he replied “If a child falls in a pit of mud, the father bends down to pick the child up, he is not bowing before that child but is giving support to help the fallen child.” Bhai Gurdas Ji writes on today’s event:
Vaisakh is the manifestation day of the Khalsa at Anandpur Sahib by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. This is a perfect day to reflect on the values instilled by Guru Ji to the Khalsa and also to those who have not partaken Amrit, make an effort to become the Sikhs of the benevolent Guru.
